Direct Sales Recruiting Vs Direct Sales Sponsoring
Are you a good recruiter in your direct sales business or are you a good sponsor in your direct sales business? Do you even know the difference? A good recruiter is able to move prospects from being a prospect to being a distributor. It is said that the top recruiters make the most money. This is incorrect. The top SPONSORS are the one that make the most money. So what's a sponsor and how does it differ from a recruiter? Think about recruiters in the corporate world. Recruiters try to find people to work at the company. However, once the person gets to the company, the new employee usually gets trained by someone else. You don't want to be a recruiter in direct sales because otherwise you will be...
Direct Sales Recruiting - Simple Tracking System
I ran my own direct sales/party plan business for twenty plus years. In my early years, I could never quite get the hang of recruiting. But as I refined my skills, my team began to grow. However, my results went from below average (1 recruit a month) to about 6 or more recruits a month when I began doing just one simple thing. A visual tracking chart in my office made a gigantic difference in my results. It matters not how it looked, what size it was, the kind of poster board or the color Sharpie marker I used. The point was that I came up with a system that I used consistently. I simply wrote down the name and phone number of every single person that I ever offered the business opportunity to and...

Internet Jobs For the Disabled - Jobs That the Physically Challenged Can Do Better Than Most
Internet Marketing levels the playing field! For those with disabilities finding employment can be hard. Finding a job that is rewarding is even harder(that could be said by all of us.) I have friends that have physical challenges and see what they go though. I see veterans that left to fight for their country come back with all sorts of injuries that prevents them from doing the jobs they were trained for. Which I believe they should not ever have to work again. I mean we can pay the politicians that sent them to war a salary that provides a life of luxury, why should a veteran be any different. Ok I feel a rant coming on! so I will leave that alone for now. Back to the subject of Internet...

New Amendments to Ada: What Does it Mean to You?
On September 25, 2008, President George W. Bush signed into law the ADA Amendments Act of 2008. As a result of this new legislation, which will go into effect on January 1, 2009, minor changes have been made to the ADA. Those changes include providing clarity as to how the term "disability" is defined -- apart from how state courts, the U.S. Supreme Court, and the EEOC have previously interpreted the definition. Under new law, the Act will retain the ADA's traditional definition of "disability" as an impairment that "substantially limits" one or more major life activities, a record of such an impairment, or being "regarded as" having such an impairment. However, new changes attempt to...
Globalization; Challenges to the Equalization of Opportunities to the Disability Movement
INTRODUCTION Human communities worldwide have tended to move gradually to develop closer associations over a long time. However, lately the speed of the movement appears to have considerably accelerated. For instance, the invention of the jet planes, the computer chip, and availability of electronic mail (email), cheap telecommunication services, huge but fast sea vessels, instantaneous financial transactions across national borders, all seem to contribute to the movement to make the globe even more mutually dependent than ever. The production and provision of branded goods and services by transnational corporations (TNCs) such as Coca- Cola, Colgate-Palmolive, Dulux Paints, Barclays Bank Gestetner...

Finding Business to Business Sales roles
At the moment, finding suitable sales roles in the job market can tend to be an arduous task for graduates and graduate calibre individuals. The main reason for this is because very few companies and recruitment agencies are willing to train them. They would much rather hire individuals who have a substantial amount of experience in the sales industry. The good news for such candidates is that once they have obtained the required sales training credentials, employers would be more willing to employ them. This is particularly true if candidates receive their training from a reputable sales training and recruitment company, because such companies will not only be able to provide them with the...

The Perils of Texting (Or - Can You Fix a Job Interview Thank You Note Mistake?)
One of my medical sales candidates had a great interview, and was following my advice to send a thank you note to the hiring manager as quickly as possible. I usually advise job candidates to email their thank you notes rather than sending by snail mail because hiring decisions are often made faster than a letter would get there. BUT, she sent the thank you note on her iPhone, and she made a mistake. She realized after she sent the note that she had misspelled a word, and she was devastated. That's almost as bad as misspelling a word on your resume. So, as her medical sales recruiter, I told her to go back to her computer and send another note: "In my excitement over the job, I wanted to send you a...

What is Social Security Disability?
Applying for Social Security Disability is one thing. Actually getting a settlement is another. The majority of Social Security Disability claims are turned down, especially when someone is under the age of 62. This is why it is important to find an experienced attorney that specializes in SSI claims. The government is no hurry to disburse funds that they can get away with putting off. This is evidenced by the fact that many people applying for these types of benefits have been known to wait years before their case is heard and the claim is finally processed. This is why once your initial claim has been denied, it is important to seek legal counsel right away. Your attorney will make sure all the...

Your Rights If Injured in a Bus Accident
Unfortunately, bus accidents are a fairly common occurrence, and they often involve serious injuries. Because of the difficulty maneuvering such a large, heavy vehicle and sometimes because of the inexperience of the driver, bus accidents happen with some frequency. The seating arrangements and lack of seatbelts can also contribute to severe injuries being suffered by bus passengers. Bus companies and public entities operating bus lines are known in the law as "common carriers". When they assume the business of transporting the general public, they vow to carry them with vigilance and safety. Such carriers are responsible for any, even the slightest, negligence and are required to do all that is...

The Importance of Universal Design
"Playing house" is one of most children's favorite pastimes, especially when the weather is perfect enough to spend hours at a time in an outdoor playhouse. All the neighborhood children gather and want to play except for one of the children. This child is confined to a wheelchair and simply can't fit inside the tiny plastic playhouse. Instead we have to play "house" on the patio or play other games. Although we try to accommodate this friend's wheelchair, it is bothersome that this friend could not share my special playhouse. Over a decade later, the confined spaces of playhouses everywhere are giving way to universally designed playgrounds and spaces. Universal Design (UD) is largely defined as...

Using Work-Related Tests to Boost Your Resume Prospects
Not everyone likes to take tests. Some people find them boring, others are intimidated, and even a few just don't see the point. When it comes to work-related tests, people can get even more uncomfortable. Who wants their employer to see more deeply inside their head? But work-related tests are becoming a fact of business life. First of all, more and more employers now require them for current employees - even for executives. Second, most job candidates must take skill, personality, and/or behavioral tests as part of the hiring process. And most of these tests use language your potential employer may be using (and thus, looking for in your resume). But last and most importantly, if you want to...
Business at Home - The Perfect Choice
Having a home based business is challenging, and rewarding all at the same time. It takes real dedication to stay focused on work when in the comfort of your own home. It is also the perfect choice for people that have no way to get out to work. The reasons for not being able to work outside the home are many, and are often not obvious. People who would ordinarily be collecting federal disability or social security are able to become independent and support themselves this way. Granted, it does not work out in favor for everyone, but for some it can be a saving grace. It nearly goes without saying that Internet access is a must for these to be effectively managed. People that live in rural areas...
Saffron Golden Spice
Saffron deserves such a description not only for the bright yellow or orange color, which gives the dish its distinctive look, but also because of its price, allowing this spice to be called the world's most expensive spice. And most counterfeited spice, as well. It takes 150,000 hand picked crocuses blooms to produce 35 ounces of spice. The largest crocus plantations are in Iran. What Is A Backyard Breeder? Do You Know The Difference?

This article has been written so that you simply know how to tell the difference between what some call a "backyard breeder" and a professional hobby breeder. There is a very big difference between the two. The naysayers and those with a personal ax to grind or vendetta against a breeder, for whatever reason they may have, often use the term "puppy mill" and "backyard breeder" very loosely and these terms are used very loosely because those doing the name calling, more often than not, have a personal agenda. So this article is to help you, the...

Just Desert
The definition of 'just desert' means to which that is deserved. A reward for what has been done - good or bad. The question is who deserves what in the justice system and what do they deserve? The other question is how much do they deserve? What is considered justice and what can be considered in justice? There needs to be a balance of thought referring to the critical thinking of what works and what doesn't work in society and within the justice system. The justice realm of thought verses the everyday popular hierarchy of political agendas is the arena of "just deserts" Does "just desert" fit a certain age or crime? Different strokes for different folks; seems to be the tune of "just desert". What...
Do you have a big job interview coming up? If so, you want to do all you can to put your best foot forward. One of the most important things you can do is to anticipate what types of questions they may ask, and know how you will answer them. It's important to practice, but also important to make sure your answers sound natural and unrehearsed. Here are five common interview questions that you should prepare for before your next interview. I have also provided some helpful suggestions for how best to answer the questions. 1. Why should we hire you? This can be an awkward question to answer for some job candidates. The question goes against all we've learned about the virtues of being modest, but a...

As of today, employers around the world are doing a reference check on their new hires. Yet, some are just doing it because this is a corporate policy while some could use the reference check results effectively to make better hiring decisions. After discussing with our reference check team and various Human Resources leaders, I would like to lay out 5 types of questions that should be included in an effective reference check: 1. Unethical and misconduct behaviors - you probably need to know if this person had any track record in employee fraud cases or other wrongdoing in the previous jobs. 2. Core competencies related to your organization's requirement - you can also use questions that are related...
Resume Writing That Will Catch an Employer's Eye
Have you ever received a resume with poor spelling or grammar in the cover letter, resume or follow-up correspondence? Sometimes I make errors, even in this post. (The title of this post is purposefully written as an error. It should be Resume Writing.) I am not recommending that you require perfection but consider some key attributes to consider in a resume. (Or how to write one.) 1. Cover letter: The email which has a resume attached has replaced most cover letters. Most of us scan the email rather than concentrate on its depth like a good novel. In addition to formatting, spelling and grammar, look for three key points: #1: Why is the person contacting me or my company? Look for a brief mention...
Passing The Pre-Employment Test
Pre-employment testing is done based on an assessment that provides measurable evidence of job candidates' capabilities. Testing a candidate prior to their recruitment has become increasingly common among employers today, in a real effort to prevent costly hiring mistakes. Earlier they used to depend on interviews - but nowadays in addition to interviewing candidates, employers conduct tests that justify the candidate's skills. Pre-employments skill tests are based on criteria such as skill aptitude, mathematics, visualization and grammar. Each test is designed to analyze candidates' capabilities for a certain position. If you are facing a pre-employment test, don't panic - you can by following...
13 Reasons For Poor Sales Hires by Hard Working Sales Managers
Imagine this picture. Turnover occurs - sometimes at an excessive rate. Sales managers work hard and struggle to find quality candidates for open sales positions. They place ads in local newspapers and get many responses. Some use Monster. Some use recruiters. However, many of their candidates come from people who cannot find a job anywhere else. Sales managers then sift through dozens of resumes to find only a few candidates worth an interview. While they sift through resumes, they find themselves stressed to find someone fast - stressed by their bosses and by a decrease in sales team production. When the candidates arrive, the resumes look better than they do! Even so, sales managers decide to...
2 Simple Rules Recruiters Use to Negotiate Top Job Offers
Consider the simple plan below, to respectfully motivate an employer to offer you top wages; and for them to agree to the additional income, not simply because you ask for more money, but because you prove your value to them first, in your initial contact with them; and in every subsequent contact, and in the resume you provide them, in the cover letter (if you use one), in your job references, prior to and during the job interview, and before the job offer, and long before you ask for an increased starting income. Every detail of this approach offers another example to the employer of how your skills and experience match their exact hiring needs; presented in a format historically proven, by job...
Is Knowledge More Important Than Experience in a Resume?
While visiting a careers forum I came across a thread that got me thinking about the importance of subject matter knowledge versus work experience on a resume. The argument was that knowledge is more important than experience because it can be applied on the job to produce good outcomes for the employer whilst experience alone serves little purpose. If this is true, why do employers value experience so highly? You might be old enough to remember looking for your first job and being frustrated at the number of job advertisements that requested previous experience. It is also common for employers to pay experienced workers more than inexperienced workers? Why? I think that the answer is that knowledge...
